Harald Herzog: From top sport to compression therapy
Top sport - Late 1970s
Harald was a professional cross-country skier in the late 1970s. As a multiple Dutch champion, he spent the winters in Norway. He was also a talented semi-professional runner, who, as a one-off excursion, completed the marathon in an impressive time of 2:27.
From research to sock
After a long period of research, study and testing, Harald Herzog developed Sports Compression Socks in 2000. As a former top athlete, Harald was extremely motivated to help athletes who suffered from the same injuries as he had in the past. Thanks to his own socks, he was now able to train injury- and worry-free as a hobby runner.
The 'Bram Som sock' - 2006
In 2006, athlete Bram Som was crowned European champion in the 800 meters. He ran his famous race wearing the Herzog socks. There is a great demand for 'Bram Som' socks.
Introduction Compry Recovery - 2014
Herzog Medical has expanded its range with Compry Recovery, an advanced recovery aid that uses pneumatic compression. This innovative technique promotes blood circulation and accelerates muscle recovery, allowing athletes to recover faster and more efficiently.
Socks awarded with Medical Quality Mark
Herzog stands for science. Since May 2021, Herzog stockings have an official Medical Quality Mark (MDR). MDR stands for 'Medical Device Regulation ' . This means that all the statements we make are scientifically proven.
Top sport & Injuries - Late 1970s-80s
During his sporting career, Harald struggled with persistent calf and Achilles tendon injuries. Despite numerous visits to physiotherapists, the pain continued to return. Only when his lower legs were firmly taped did he notice immediate relief. After his sporting career, he went to work at a medical company that manufactured support socks. There he discovered that these socks, comparable to heavy taping, could help him. After extensive experimenting with compression socks in different pressure variants while running, he finally found the ideal combination that successfully helped prevent his injuries.
Establishment of Herzog Medical - 2001
Harald founded Herzog Medical in 2001. In the years that followed, the company quickly built a strong reputation among both amateur and elite athletes. Herzog Medical becomes an international player in the field of compression socks, known for its innovation and quality in the sports world.
