What are Support Stockings or TEK Stockings?

Compression stockings, officially known as Therapeutic Elastic Stockings (TEK), are provided by prescription through bandagists and must meet strict criteria:

1. Pressure gradient: The stockings provide a pressure gradient from distal to proximal, which means from further away from the heart towards the heart.
2. Fit: The stocking must follow the leg contour very accurately.
3. Compression class: Compression stockings fall within specific compression classes. If they do not meet these standards, they cannot be classified as compression stockings.

Herzog socks

Therapeutic elastic stockings (TES), also known as support stockings, are used in the medical field to support blood circulation and distribute pressure across the legs in a controlled manner. Herzog PRO Compression Stockings fall within this category because they are produced on the same knitting machines as medical support stockings and offer precisely controlled compression pressure. The stockings provide approximately 30 mmHg of pressure at the ankle and gradually decrease to approximately 23 mmHg below the knee. This places them in the higher range of pressure class 2, close to pressure class 3.
