Proven effect

Everyone now knows that the Herzog PRO Compression Socks are the best in terms of performance and functionality. Several studies confirm this . The most recent study from the University Medical Center Utrecht, conducted by Franke and Backx (2021), involved a large-scale cross-sectional study into the effects and operation of Herzog PRO Sport Compression Socks. Within this research process, the injury pattern and sports history of 512 athletes were examined. Curious about the results...?

Research figures highlighted

We have listed the most interesting results especially for you...

Who participated in the study?

  • The research target group consisted of 800 athletes
  • Within this group, 88.1% were endurance athletes and 11.9% fell under the sports category 'other' (strength/indoor sports/sprint, etc.)
  • For 84.7% of the athletes, 'running' was the primary sport
  • All respondents were avid Herzog users and wore socks 75% to 100% of the time during/after exercise

90%

OF ALL ATHLETES ARE NO LONGER CONFRONTED WITH RECURRING INJURY COMPLAINTS WITH HERZOG SOCKS

Why do athletes wear Herzog compression socks?

  • Many athletes mention 'secondary injury prevention' as the primary reason ( 48.6% ). This means that one wants to prevent an old injury from recurring.
  • 14.8% percent of athletes wear Herzog socks to reduce or alleviate the symptoms of a current injury. Current aches and pains are actively counteracted.
  • 13.6% of the athletes surveyed wear Herzog socks purely for injury prevention.

80%

OF THE ATHLETES REPORT FASTER RECOVERY WITH HERZOG SOCKS

What positive effects do athletes experience?

  • 98% of athletes using Herzog socks for secondary injury prevention confirm that they no longer face recurring issues with Herzog socks.
  • 80% of athletes using Herzog socks for faster recovery report significantly better regeneration after exercise.
  • 70% of athletes using socks for performance improvement also notice a boost in their sports performance.

Runners who consistently wear compression socks or sleeves during training and races, and cover an average running distance of ≥23 km, have demonstrated a significantly lower incidence of lower leg injuries.

What are the most common sports injuries?

Did you know…

Did you know… Endurance athletes frequently deal with injuries that develop gradually, such as Achilles tendon issues, shin splints, and calf strains. These types of injuries are most common in endurance athletes, affecting the lower leg (64.8%) and the knee (16.4%). In non-endurance athletes, injuries also frequently occur in the lower leg (60.4%), but the ankle is a more common site of injury (16.7%).

What are the most popular Herzog socks?

Did you know...

Within the Herzog range, the Herzog PRO Sport Compression Socks (59.2%) and Herzog PRO Sport Tubes (27.0%) are the most popular choices.

Reduced risk of injuries... How does that work?

Franke and Backx (2021) not only investigated the (positive) effects experienced by athletes wearing Herzog socks but also explored the physiological reasons behind their injury-preventing benefits. The researchers also delved into the physiological explanation for the injury-preventing effect of Herzog stockings. For example, research by Poppel, Scholten-Peeters, van Middelkoop, Koes, Verhagen (2018) is cited. This clearly shows that wearing compression stockings while running reduces the vibration of the calf muscles (particularly the medial-lateral and anterior-posterior movement)*. The stockings effectively reduce shock loads, preventing muscle damage. The result is that there are much fewer tensile forces on your Achilles tendons and your tibial membrane.

Conclusion

Athletes use Herzog to prevent the recurrence of injuries, alleviate current complaints, speed up recovery, and improve sports performance. The primary motivation for starting injury prevention is the experience of a past injury. The study by Franke and Backx (2021) shows that athletes view Herzog socks as a crucial preventive measure to reduce injuries.
