PRO Compression socks and tubes

What is the difference between tubes and socks?

During exercise, the socks and tubes offer the same benefits. The main difference lies in their usage. You can wear the socks both during and after a training session or match. In contrast, the tubes are designed to be worn only while you’re active. Wearing the tubes while at rest might lead to some fluid retention in your ankles.

The socks reducing shock impact on your calves and minimizing strain on your Achilles tendons and shinbones. For existing injuries, Herzog socks are often used for their compressive support, acting like a stabilizing bandage.

04
Has the effectiveness of Herzog Compression sock been scientifically proven?

The preventive benefits of Herzog compression stockings have been confirmed by scientific research. A notable study by Franke and Backx (2021) investigated the effects and functionality of Herzog PRO Sport Compression Stockings. This extensive research analyzed the injury patterns and sports histories of athletes. The findings reveal that Herzog stockings are highly regarded by athletes for their preventive qualities, helping to reduce the risk of injuries. 05
Can Herzog socks prevent recurring injuries?

It's important to understand that scar tissue often remains in the muscle after a calf injury. Scar tissue lacks the elasticity of the surrounding muscle tissue and can become a weak spot in the calf muscle. Herzog socks significantly reduce the risk of scar formation due to their compressive, adhesive plaster effect. They also help lower the likelihood of experiencing a muscle tear again.

06
Can compression socks and tubes improve my (endurance) performance?

By wearing Herzog stockings during exercise, blood circulation to muscles and fibers is stimulated. This reduces fatigue and extends the period of optimal oxygen supply to the muscles, allowing them to continue to perform better. As a result, athletes can train longer and more intensively, which benefits muscle strength and effectively prevents cramps.

07
Where can I find the size of my Herzog socks?

If you already own a pair of Herzog stockings or tubes and are unsure about your size, don't worry. Finding your size is easy. For compression socks, the size is indicated on the sole of the foot. The number (1 to 6) represents your confection size, while the letter (S / L / XL) indicates the length: short / long / extra long. For example, '2 L 36-39' means size 2, long, and suitable for shoe sizes 36-39.

08
Where can I find the size of my Herzog Tubes?

Do you already have some Herzog tubes but are unsure of your size? No worries. You can easily determine your size using your current tubes:

- Checking the confection size: Check the back of the tube, just below the 'H', you’ll see Roman numerals woven into the fabric, which indicate sizes 1 to 6.
- Checking the lenght size: To find your length size, look inside the tube. Count the lines in the ribbing: 1 line stands for 'short', 2 lines for 'long', and 3 lines for 'extra long'.

09

The Herzog PRO Compression Socks and Tubes offer relatively high compression at the ankle level of approximately 30 mmHg, decreasing to around 23 mmHg towards the knee.

010
What does pressure class 2 mean?

The pressure class of compression stockings, both sports compression socks and medical support stockings (TEK), is expressed in mmHg. The various pressure classes for these stockings are as follows:

Class A: 10 – 14 mmHg

Class 2: 23 – 32 mmHg
Class 3: 36 – 46 mmHg
Class 4: >49 mmHg

The higher the class, the higher the pressure.

011
Why are there no specific left or right sock with the PRO Compression socks?

Herzog PRO Sport Compression socks are designed based on our Therapeutic Elastic Stockings. The unique knitting technique used ensures high quality and a flawless fit. To prevent pressure points from developing in the fabric— which can occur if you wear the same sock on the same foot every day—we recommend rotating the socks between feet. This practice helps to distribute wear evenly and extend the lifespan of the stockings.

012
Can compression socks cause your muscles to become 'lazy'?

It's a common misconception that compression socks lead to muscle weakness. While compression socks fit snugly around the lower legs and provide stability, they don't reduce the need for your calf muscles to work. Instead, these socks apply external pressure but do not substitute for the stabilizing and corrective functions of your muscles. Therefore, athletes need not worry that wearing compression socks will diminish their muscle strength.

Support Compression Stockings

What is the difference between the PRO Compression Socks and the Support Socks?

Both the Herzog PRO Socks and the Support Socks feature a decreasing pressure gradient from the ankle to the knee, aiding in the faster removal of waste products. However, there are two key differences between the PRO and Support Socks:

1. Amount of Compression
The PRO Socks offer a higher level of compression, with 30mmHg at the ankle, making them ideal for runners and athletes who experience significant shock loads on their calves, such as during running, turning, jumping, or intense acceleration. In contrast, the Support Socks provide slightly less compression at 25mmHg at the ankle, and are better suited for walkers or sporters who experience less intense strain.

2. Footbed Design
Additionally, the Support Socks have a slightly thicker footbed compared to the PRO Compression Socks.

01
How do the sizing of the Support socks work?
  • The size of the PRO Compression Socks is determined using 5 measuring points in combination with your shoe size, ensuring a custom fit.
  • The size of the Support Socks is determined on the basis of 2 measuring points and the shoe size.

    * Note that for the Support Socks, the sizing app may recommend a size that slightly differs from your usual shoe size. This is because the app considers the optimal compression gradient at the calf and ankle. If you have any doubts about finding the most suitable size for you, please feel free to contact us.
