The difference between the PRO and Support stockings is:

1. The amount of compression

Where the PRO stockings offer quite a lot of compression (30mmHg at ankle level), the Support Socks offer slightly less compression (25mmHg at ankle level). The PRO stockings are often used by runners and athletes who have to deal with a lot of shock loads on the calves (running/turning/jumping/fierce acceleration). The Support Socks are ideal for walkers or athletes who place less intensive strain on the body.

2. The footbed

In addition, the Support stocking has a slightly thicker footbed than the PRO stocking.

Every athlete has different calf contours. You can never guarantee an ideal compression progression based on shoe size alone. After all, a wiry runner of 1.70 m with shoe size 43 has different leg contours than a football player of 1.85 m with the same shoe size. That is why Herzog works with a sizing system where the size is determined based on 5 measuring points and the shoe size. This makes the PRO stocking a real custom-made stocking. This way, as an athlete, you are guaranteed a perfect compression profile.

By wearing Herzog stockings during exercise, the calf muscle is kept compactly together and there is much less muscle damage. If you have (or have had) shin problems, Achilles tendon problems or a calf injury, it is recommended to wear Herzog stockings structurally during every training session. By wearing Herzog stockings, the calf muscle is kept compact and there is much less muscle damage. You reduce the shock load on your calves and there is also much less tension on your Achilles tendons and your tibial membrane. In case of an existing injury, Herzog stockings are often used because of the compressive adhesive plaster effect.

The preventive effect of Herzog stockings has been demonstrated in various scientific studies. The most recent research was conducted by Franke and Backx (2021). This large-scale cross-sectional study shows that athletes view Herzog stockings as an important preventative measure to reduce injuries. 98% of the athletes surveyed confirmed that they are no longer confronted with recurring complaints with Herzog stockings.
