Working in the ICU is top-level sport
Working in healthcare is top-level sport, pure and simple. Especially in these times: ICU staff work double shifts, experience stress, and have short, restless nights. Dutch healthcare workers are working incredibly hard to provide Corona patients with the help they need right now. Herzog Medical is not a charity, but there are times when, as a company, you have to put profit aside. Especially when a topic affects you personally. In 2020, director Harald Herzog sat down with Diederik Gommers to see how Herzog Medical could support ICUs in the Netherlands.
During the COVID-19 years, Herzog Medical provided its stockings to ICU staff without seeking profit. Director Harald Herzog's drive to help Dutch healthcare partly stems from the fact that he has seen firsthand the impact COVID-19 can have. His eldest daughter is a doctor at the Charité hospital in Berlin, where everyone is working tirelessly to keep things running. Unfortunately, she contracted COVID-19 herself a few months ago, and the aftermath of her illness has greatly worried Harald as a father: she currently still has only 30% lung function after more than 3 months and is a mere shadow of what she was before COVID-19: a spry, athletic, young woman. For the director of Herzog Medical, it feels especially good to be able to do something with his company for the hardworking healthcare staff in the Netherlands.
Many people know Herzog Pro Compression Stockings because they have been worn for years by both amateur and top athletes. Partly to prevent injuries, but big names like Estavana Polman, Fabio Jakobsen, and Mathieu van der Poel also wear the stockings to speed up recovery after exertion. ICU staff who walk for hours and stand continuously also greatly benefit from wearing Herzog Compression Stockings in the same way. Herzog stockings promote venous and lymphatic return from the legs to the heart. This results in the absence of heavy or tired legs.
